Hasui flourished in the period of Meiji, Taishyo, and Showa (1883-1957). He led Shin-hanga Undo (the new print movement).
The motif of this work is Shirakawajo (Shirakawa castle) that is one of the most beautiful castles in the northeast of Japan. The work used tactful shading technique; the back is brighter than the front to create the depth.
The title Shirakawajoshi no Sakura (Cherry Blossoms of Shirakawa Castle Ruins) is shown on the left middle margin. The artist signature and his seal are on the bottom right corner of the image. The date of the production is given on the left corner of the margin.
Excellent impression,colors and condition.
