Utagawa Hiroshige is especially noted for using unusual vantage points, seasonal allusions, and striking colors. He adapted Western principles of perspective.
This is one of the 69 pieces of the series "Rokuju Yoshu Meisho Zue"( Famous places in the 60-odd provinces) which depict showplaces around Japan.
Izumi is located to the south of Osaka, and at that time, people called "Izumi or Senshu". From the shrine at the bottom left, the lines of the crowd coming and going along the pine trees and the white sails which are floating in the dark blue sea create the zigzag composition in this work.Through this composition, viewers' eyes are led to the upper left of the image.
The series title and the title of this work are shown to the upper right of the image. The artist's signature is at the red cartouche to the middle left.
Good impression and colors condition: two small holes at the right edge
