Imao Keisyo (1902-1993) is an adopted son of Imao Keinen who was a famous Japanese style painter. He studied under his father and succeeded his painting style which is known for minute depiction.
Rough bark of the old pine tree and its fine leaves are depicted wonderfully and skillfully. The color of the black ink is beautifully used in this artwork. The contrast of black Indian ink for the pine and bright red paint for the maple is very impressive.
It also clearly shows the contrast between boldly painted pine and dainty and minute feathers of the little bird.
This artwork is an elegant piece created based on realism.
