Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1864), who was taught by Utagawa Toyokuni, gained a great fame for creating ukiyo-e depicting noble beauties and lively actors. He became popular when he started to paint round backed and short necked beauties after circa 1830. He is also known as a prolific artist.
