Komura Settai became popular for illustration shown in a serial novel in newspaper. In this artwork elegantly depicted is a woman sitting on the Engawa. In the light warm color spread across the screen, the red collar of the woman's kimono stands out. Pink petals dropped here and there add an emotional effect. A hand-written "Toei" with an almost same composition created in 1940 is owned by the Yayoi Museum.
