Utagawa Yoshikazu was a pupil of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and depicted Yokohamae for wood-block prints. The main subject was the port opening of the end of Edo, landscapes in Yokohama and foreign culture. This kind of wood-block prints were produced in response to Japanese people's increasing curiosity. In this print, the most impressive is the contrast between scarlet and blue. Their look is somehow awkward, but it seems one of the impression Japanese people had just like having on the western tablewear and costume.
Slightly soiled.
