A fight by man and woman messing up. They might be magicians. Each depicted given a particular pose holds a tool in hand. "Sirogikumaru" in childish look in the left of screen throws a flash reflected on the magic mirror she holds to "Enoshimanyudo" in the center of screen. This Shirogikumaru is a child who appears in the play entitled "Sakurahime Azumabunsho" where she doesn't use a mirror. Also, from other characters, this play can be considered to have been inspired by another play. The Aratamein seal says this was published in December 1855.
Good print and condition.
Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1865) (also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III) was the most popular, prolific and financially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan. In his own time, his reputation far exceeded that of his contemporaries, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi.
