This is a triptych of actor painting depicted a Kabuki actor, Ichikawa Danjuro VIII. The title is “Snow, Moon, Flower”, a symbol of elegant view or thing, and Danjuro from the play related to each title was depicted. Paying your attention to the three frames on the screen, you would know each was framed differently. His beauty sense as a painter from Edo can be seen even in such minor part. From the seal, it was a print of November 1854.
A set of three for sale. Good condition, colors and impression
Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1865) (also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III) was the most popular, prolific and financially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan. In his own time, his reputation far exceeded that of his contemporaries, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi.
Good color and impression.
