In the caricature depicted over the period from the end of Edo to the Meiji Restoration, there is a genre of the brocade picture satirizing the Boshin War, that is called "Kodomo Asobi(Child Play)" or "Otona Asobi-e(Adult Play Picture)". These caricature are usually depicted as a pair of opposites like East Army(conservative) and West Army(innovative). Also, the concervative usually means Aizu Clan. In this painting, the man in Yukata, Summer Kimono, with a pattern of candle expresses Aizu Clan because candles used to be Aizu's specialty.
Good color and condition.
