Tsukioka Yoshitoshi depicted a lot of mysterious, inteligent and sexy beauties. This artwork belongs to a set of 32 aspects which subjects are female figures given different discriptions. This shows Honen's unique sense. Also this is known as one of his representative beauties, succeeding Utagawa Toyokuni III's 32 aspects.
The subtitle of this artwork is "Looks impatient, the culture of builders' wives in the Kaei era". In Japan, the word meaning builders' wives also means wives of aged and experienced craftsmen's wives. The workwear is hung on the wall behind the woman whose expression is sharp. This artwork shows the strong personality of women in Edo.
