A girl in Kimono, boyishly rolling up the hem, swings a long white cloth. Yamakawa Shuho liked to depict modern women, and contributed to the development of the Beauty in the Kyoto art world, along with Ito Shinsui. The faint redness on the girl's cheek gives a purely cute impression.
Stains on the upper part
Yamakawa Shuho(1898-1944, born in Kyoto) was a Nihonga painter reputed for his Beauty (women paintings). He learnt from Kaburaki Kiyokata and Ikegami Shuho. Awarded at the Teiten (art exhibition), in 1928 and 1930. Along with Ito Shinsui and Terashima Shimei, he is one of three great pupils of Kaburaki Kiyokata.
