This is an artwork by Bijinga Master, Ito Shinsui. No title is on, so the date of the creation is unknown, but the name of a famous printer of Watanabe Woodblock shown in the right end lets us guess that this was issued by Watanabe Woodblock around in th early Showa. The simple composiion emphasizes the beauty of the woman cooling herself with a fan in a hand.
Good condition, colors and impression
Ito Shinsui (1898-1972) was the pseudonym of a Nihonga painter and ukiyo-e woodblock print artist in Taisho and Showa period Japan. He led the shin hanga art movement which revitalized the traditional art after it began to decline with the advent of photography in the early 20th century.
