From up to down in the screen, he left a massive trace of sumi, as giving a brushstroke swinging left and right, then he added red dots to give a form of chiken. Banka was excelled at elaborate depiction, so this kind of abstract painting is rare as his artwork. Very impressive artwork.
Maruyama Banka (1867-1942) was an oil painter, who learnt from Kodama Katei and Honda Kinkichiro. He contributed to spreading water-color paintings, and established himself as a landscape painter.
