Hiroshige, a representative Ukiyoe landscape painter, depicted famous views and seasonal things from lyric natural landscapes of all over Japan into bold vertial screens in his later years. "Rokujuyoshu Meishozukai"created that way was also based on geological evidence, and with its fresh composition and painting style, he opened up his own painting world, not stuck to reality. In this artwork is depicted a lake known as a famous spot of Kanazawa with fishermen working in there. Lights of fishermen's boats, quiet houses and calm waves on the lake are so impressive. Created in 1853.
Good condition, color and impression Especially, the gradation of ble color is marvelous.
Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) was an Ukiyoe artist. He was taught by Utagawa Toyohiro who was one of the most popular Ukiyoe artists. Utagawa Hiroshige was one of the peer pupils of Utagawa Toyohiro. His pictures of famous landscapes with highly developed composition in perspective and in clear scenographical contrast are highly rated overseas. His representative works are Tokaido Gojyu San Tsugi (53 stations of the Tokaido), Touto Meisho (Famous Views of Edo), Meisho Edo Hyakkei ( Famous 100 views of Edo) . Famous 100 views of Edo is well known for the fact that Vincent Van Gogh reproduced the prints.
