Buzen was in the present area spread from east Fukuoka to north Oita. On the border is located Yabakei known as a famous spot, in which there is Rakan-ji Temple. As shown in the title, here depicted is famous Aono Domon located at the downstream of Rakan-ji. This Domon is a tunnel made by Zenkai (1691-1774), monk of Soto-shu in Echizen. When Zenkai stopped by this temple known as the temple of Soto-shu as well as headquarters of Rakan-ji, he knew so many people and horses had fallen down to die from there. So, he decided to make this tunnel, and it completed 30years later, in 1763. You also could see lighting windows on the wall. Created in 1854.

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) was an Ukiyoe artist. He was taught by Utagawa Toyohiro who was one of the most popular Ukiyoe artists. Utagawa Hiroshige was one of the peer pupils of Utagawa Toyohiro.
