Dear Sir/Madam

Hello from Akiko Yamada of Shukado.
Last month there was delightful news in Japan! The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO decided to inscribe Mt. Fuji on the U.N. agency's World Heritage list.

Mt. Fuji (
富士山, Fujisan) is with 3776 meters Japan's highest mountain and is an active volcano, which most recently erupted about 300years ago.
The awe that Fuji-san
's majestic corn shape has inspired was transformed into religious practices that linked Buddhism and Shintoism.
It stands on the border between Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.
This Ukiyo-e was depicted the view of Mt Fuji from Kamakura, near Yokohama.

If you take the shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo in direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of the mountain can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of the train.
In the case you want to enjoy Mount Fuji as leisure, not climbing, we recommend to
go to the Fuji Five Lake (Fujigoko) region at the foot of the mountain.
This Ukiyo-e was painted by Kawase Hasui depicting the view of Mt Fuji from Lake Yamanaka.

Mt. Fuji inspired artists for example Hokusai and Hiroshige in the early 19th century.
They produced a lot of majestic Ukiyo-e allowed the mountain to be known around the world, and had a profound influence on the development of Western art.
